Vaillant boilers: ranges, warranty and price

An illustrative combi boiler in a hallway cupboard.

Vaillant boilers come in three combi ranges that matter to a homeowner: the ecoFIT pure, the ecoTEC pro and the ecoTEC plus. The ecoTEC Plus is the top of the three, and we price it fitted at around £4,700, with a range of £2,800 to £5,800. That sits above the equivalent Worcester Bosch and Ideal ranges, so the question for most buyers is whether the warranty and the support justify it.

The Vaillant boilers range

Boxt, an online installer, names the ecoFIT pure as a compact boiler with a rear flue option, and the ecoTEC plus as the step up. It says the ecoTEC pro is available as a combi in three outputs. Your installer should match the range and the output to your home. For the pricing on each, see our Vaillant ecoTEC Plus page, which is the one range we price so far.

Vaillant warranty lengths

Which? publishes standard and extended warranty lengths for the three ranges. The ecoFIT pure carries a short standard warranty and a long extended one, while the ecoTEC pro and plus both carry a mid-length standard warranty and the same long extended one. Boxt says its Vaillant installs include a manufacturer-backed warranty that it puts at ten years.

The long warranty usually has conditions. The boiler has to be registered, fitted by an approved installer and serviced every year, so ask what your quote includes. Our boiler brands guide has the full table of makes and ranges.

What Vaillant boilers cost fitted

Retailers advertise low starting prices, and the published boiler price plus fitting sits well above them. Our figure is built from both, so the typical price above is a guide and not a quote. Prices vary with output, with the state of your system and with where you live, and the combi boiler prices page shows the regional differences.

If you are weighing Vaillant against another make, put the models side by side: the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 and the Ideal Logic Max are the closest we price.

Common Vaillant fault codes

Vaillant publishes a long list of fault codes. Two come up more than any others. Vaillant F22 is the low pressure code, and you can often clear it by topping up through the filling loop. Vaillant F28 means the boiler didn’t detect a flame, and Vaillant lists simple checks to make first. Our guide to boiler fault codes explains how to read any code.

Choosing a Vaillant boiler

Choose the range for the warranty and the output for the home. An installer should size the boiler from the number of bathrooms and radiators, not from habit. Ask for the model name on the quote, not just “Vaillant”, because the three ranges differ in price and in warranty.

When you have a quote, use our compare tool to put it next to the others. You can also get free quotes from local Gas Safe installers who fit Vaillant.
