Ideal boilers: ranges, warranty and fault codes

Ideal boilers are sold in four ranges that matter to a homeowner: the i2, the Logic, the Logic Max and the Vogue Max. The Logic Max is the one we price, at around £2,800 fitted, with most people paying between £2,200 and £3,400. Ideal’s ranges carry some of the longest warranties in the table we use, so the question is which range gives the cover you want at a price you will pay.

The Ideal boiler ranges

The i2 is the entry range, the Logic sits above it and the Logic Max is the upper-middle range. The Vogue Max is the top. Boxt describes the Logic Max as available as a combi, a system or a standard boiler across a wide span of outputs, and it names the Logic Combi as the boiler it advertises its lowest installed price on. Which? publishes standard and extended warranty lengths for each range, and our boiler brands guide has the table.

Ideal warranty

The pattern with Ideal is that standard and extended warranties are the same length on the table we use, so there is less to gain from an extended plan. The top two ranges carry the longest. As with any make, a long warranty usually depends on registration and yearly servicing, so ask what your quote includes in writing.

What Ideal boilers cost fitted

Our Ideal Logic Max page shows the price fitted, including VAT. The figure is built from the published boiler price and a typical fitting range, because the sources give them separately. Compare it with the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000, the closest make we price.

Common Ideal fault codes

Two Ideal codes come up more than most. Ideal F1 is the low pressure code, and you can often clear it by topping up through the filling loop. Ideal L2 is a flame loss or ignition lockout, and Ideal lists simple checks to make first. Our guide to boiler fault codes explains how to read any code.

Choosing an Ideal boiler

Choose the range for the warranty and the output for the home, and ask for the model name on the quote. Put quotes side by side with our compare tool, and get free quotes from Gas Safe installers who fit Ideal.
